Seminar Presentations
Within the past year, Phil has spoken at two additional seminars, both held in
Portland, Maine, and sponsored by the Maine State Bar Association. Both
involved legal ethics in our modern technological world. One seminar
discussed ethics in communications through the Internet, including e-mail and
web site advertising. The other pertained to the ethics of
E-Commerce.
Expert Witness
Phil has recently been retained by a couple of prominent Maine lawyers as an expert witness in
legal
malpractice cases. Both cases call for his expertise in legal ethics and
the duties lawyers owe to clients. Expert witness advice and consultation
continues to be a growing segment of his practice.
DAVID G. WEBBERT Seminar Presentations
David remains in demand as a teacher at employment law seminars around the
State, having given presentations at four such seminars since January 1,
2002. They include a seminar on sexual harassment sponsored by the John
Waldo Ballou American Inn of Court in Bangor, two seminars on hot topics in
employment law sponsored by the Maine State Bar Association, and an employment
law and practice seminar put on by the Maine Human Rights Commission. Verdicts
and Settlements
David's success rate in employment and civil rights cases has been phenomenal.
He has achieved some of the highest jury awards ever rendered in Maine in
employment discrimination cases. They include a verdict of $805,000 in a
federal employment discrimination case and two verdicts of $720,000 and $500,000
each in Americans With Disabilities Act cases. With this track record,
David holds the respect of employment lawyers throughout the State. As a
result, he can often avoid the expense and delay of trial by reaching fair and
just settlements with the opposing side. President of MELA
David continues to serve as President of the Maine Employment Lawyers
Association, a statewide organization of lawyers dedicated to representing
employees in employment cases.
